The first exhibition was in Tokyo 東京, Japan. Let’s rewind and I’ll tell you from the beginning. It all started in the 90s by drawing a horse and a hare in pencil. At that time my pet was a dog called “Negritu”, we were like brothers and very acrobatic hamsters that I also drew often. The color appeared in my life with a present that was a briefcase full of oil paintings with brushes, a canvas frame and an easel. It was awesome! I started creating. Without thinking, without sketching, without anything in mind in front of the blank canvas and animals and nature emerged.
The studies of administration and business helped me to work for several years, surely you did not expect it. Yes, that’s how it was, why don’t you make a living from art, do you? The unconditional love of art also made me train in scientific illustration, digital, and painting. And then came the exhibitions of portraits, landscapes, abstraction, and illustrations, in museums, hotels, centers… in Spain and some other countries, in fact the first important exhibition was in Tokyo. I dared with murals, theatre sets and illustrations from some booklets, in all the proposals of the sketches there was always nature or animals.
The common thread of all the works has always been nature. Signed with the pseudonym Doprus, the abbreviation for Dolors Pratsevalls Rus. A lover of all the animals that inhabit our planet. With those colors, those textures, those shapes, those peculiar expressions and they’re so endearing. I’m sure you have a special connection with animals too, right?
This is how Art Doprus was born, unique hand-painted portraits of pets and other animals. For this eternal love for art, for our pets, for all animals, for nature, for quality painting, for the tenderness with which each work is treated with extreme delicacy. Why it’s passion!
